Beatrice Mangure for Embu Senate

Growing up in Embu I would everyday look at Mount Kenya, a sight of beauty. As I grew up to the challenges we endure everyday while living in the world, the words, “There is no mountain you can’t climb,” made Mount Kenya to be always in my mind. These words have seen me explore different careers and opportunities in Kenya and abroad. They have led me to learning more and meeting people from all walks of life. As I share my origin, while in the U.S, I will talk about Mount Kenya and I get asked, “Why don’t we plan a trip to climb Mount Kenya?” If the times I have heard this question had resulted in me taking a group to climb the mountain, I would have by now with others climbed the mountain more than 100 times. ...

Terry Kairu for Kiambu County Senate

Our present leadership has failed Kenya. Kenyan political leaders have failed to keep the goal of the economic vision for Kenya to one that would enable all parents to feed their children daily, educate them and keep them healthy. The year 2012 is a call for patriotic men and women of Kenya who have a passion to serve and are not looking to elevate themselves to a pedestal of “untouchables” through overtaxing Kenyans to pay themselves the highest pay in the world, grabbing land and misusing allocated CDF money. 2012 is the year Kenya changes and starts its economic rise. 2012 is the year Kenyans from abroad join the race. 2012 is the year Kenyans refuse poor leadership. I herewith declare my intentions to vie for the seat of Kiambu Senator. ...

Kimani Wairiri for Nyandarua County Senate

Nyandarua County is endowed with adequate water resources. It can no longer be acceptable that whereas our own Malewa Dam services 30% of Nairobi’s water needs, hardly any household in Nyandarua County has reliable connection to piped water. The term of 2012 – 2017 will be for developing the plan that will see every household have a supply of clean water. During my young age, Nyandarua was the pride of the country with its school and students topping the nation; today this is not the case. Parents in Nyandarua can be assured that the education level will be back and Nyandarua will be on top again and after 5 years 2017 Nyandarua residents will have transformed the county to beauty, pristine as we work together. ...

Dr. Wilson Endege for Vihiga County

Research has taught me that to invent something one has to put in a lot of hard work besides being forward looking. In the world of today, we celebrate many inventors who have shown that a determined mind can achieve a lot. Each year in the U.S, we hear of new technology inventions, medical breakthroughs and many others. This is achieved through a partnership between the government research institutions, higher education research institutions, private research industry and the hiring of bright-determined minds including providing resources to perform research. Although Kenya has many smart and brilliant minds, the government institution has failed Kenya for the collective political body has never had the goal of progressing Kenya through results oriented high caliber research which is the only way new inventions will be made in Kenya. This has led Kenyans being trapped in a cycle of poverty as they import every technology that helps sustain life. Not because Kenyans are not brilliant, but because the people they have put to government offices have failed them. I wish to correct this 2012 – 2017 and do start the process by first expressing interest to serve the people of Vihiga and Kenya. ...
