“I will run for Governor and have picked the lady with the Green Dress, Mercy, to help me in the Diaspora,” said Noah Wekesa, the Minister for Forestry and Wildlife and Member of Parliament for Kwanza Constituency, to the Kenyans gathered in the President Kibaki meeting in New York. With those words the Minister had tapped one of the best Kenyan marketers and promoters as he introduced his bid for Governor to hundreds of Kenyans abroad.

Trans Nzoia County is located between the Nzoia River and Mount Elgon and borders Uganda borderline to the West, West Pokot county to the North, Elgeyo Marakwet County to the East, Bugoma, Kakamega and Uasin Gishu to the South. The county is serviced through Kakamega-Kitale Road and Kitale Airport. The county whose administrative town is Kitale is has the size of about 2,495 sq km or 625,000 acres of land, a population of approximately 820,000 people. River Nzoia is a food belt for Kenya with regard to the supply of Sunflower, Tea, Coffee, Pyrethrum, Beans and Maize.

Hon Wekesa is a Veterinary Medicine graduate from University of Edinburgh. He has been a member of parliament since 1988 and aspires to win the Governor’s seat. Mercy on the other hand is one of the best “Kenyan Events and Kenyan born marketer and promoter living in the U.S.” Bringing Mercy on board may gradually see the resources of Trans Nzoia attract the interest of Kenyan Investors aboard. The county location and resources can lead toward a strong tourism sector, farming and educational research institution.

If anyone can make Mount Elgon National Park known in the world, Mercy can, and in this capacity she would form a dynamic and productive partnership with the prospective Governor of Trans Nzoia, Hon Wekesa. And there is much to work with that includes:  Giant trees, wildlife, bird species, cliffs, mountain peaks, caves, hot springs, waterfalls and others. The founders of Kenya University Project are also looking very closely to have a project center in this county and welcomed the idea of having Mercy as part of the advisers to the county’s future vision.

Mercy reached later said, “On my part I will advance this process and discussion that will develop Trans Nzoia. By Monday morning, Kenya time, when the minister arrives in Kenya I will have opened the dialogue.”
