Thanksgiving Holiday. 5 Things Kenyans in Diaspora Should Give Thanks For
Started as a way to give thanks for the harvest, Thanksgiving Day is a holiday celebrated in the United States and other parts of the world each year. In the U.S it is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. For Kenyans in the U.S this has evolved to be a day of celebration and feasting of the turkey bird which is the popular food for this day. In Atlanta Kenyans also gather for a four-day marathon of dancing and partying. After giving thanks for good health, family, a job, a good husband, a good wife, good parents and living in the greatest country U.S, Kenyans should also consider giving thanks to other things. Below 5 things Kenyans should consider giving thanks to during Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
No 5 Chance to experience the snow.
This experience is mainly for Kenyans who settled in the Northern regions of Boston, Chicago, Seattle and each year have to enjoy the snow weather that comes every year. Whereas snow falls when it is cold no one can deny the white product is not beautiful to watch. The pains of the freezing temperature while removing the snow should be a thing to give thanks to that the product does not fall in Kenya as you imagine how many casualties would occur if a 2 feet blizzard were to fall in Nairobi.
No. 4 I can drive a Car
Many Kenyans who have come out of retirement after coming to the U.S at the ages of 60 and above have found themselves learning to drive cars as they have settled in the U.S. They should give thanks for the opportunity to learn how to drive and own their car that the U.S can give to even those who have retired and come out from retirement.
No. 3 I know how to cook a Turkey
Before arriving in the U.S many Kenyans never knew how to cook a turkey. Many even had never eaten this bird. The turkey is one of the sweetest meats thanks to Thanksgiving I have had a chance to eat this bird.
No. 2 I love American football
Fans of American football should give thanks for the opportunity to come and learn of a new sport that is thrilling to watch. It is a game that has the very big and even the smallest persons play. It is a field a game where there are three collaborative units forming one team, namely the offense, the defense, and special units. This Thnaksgiving fans will enjoy three games about 9 hours of football.
No. 1 Kenyans like Dr. Endege are willing to leave all the good life in U.S.A. to go build Kenya
Kenyans should give thanks that there are some of them willing to relocate and work in Kenya. Dr Endege’s initiative would see many Kenyans relocate back to Kenya and work hard to propel Kenya forward toward the point where one can proudly say, “I did not have to polish my shoe today for there was no dust in the air.” To read more about this initiative click here
