Kenyans abroad are known for their export of hard cash to Kenya. Each year they are said to remit over $1 billion dollars that has kept Kenya afloat. A trend is emerging of most of the money going toward buying products imported from Kenya. The products like the bead tie worn by this Kenyan pictured in the resent Jamhuri day celebrations. Njenga of Lowell city in Boston region attending the Jamhuri celebrations said he was happy not only to wear the flag in this day but to know he had promoted a business in Kenya and given a Kenyan a job. He encouraged other Kenyans to look for where Kenya products are sold and when an event like Jamhuri day, Madaraka day or Mshujaa day is celebrated Kenyans this day can be wearing the Kenyan products.

The clothing industry that traces it’s roots when Kimathi a Kenyan living then in New York decided to start a clothing line called Jamhuri wear which was then a designer T-shirt with the Kenya flag is today a line of clothing that has seen the Kenya flag colors and the impressions of the flag be on caps, ties, jackets, T-shirts, sweaters and many other clothing wear. Many Kenyans abroad have started shops that sell clothing from Kenya like a shop in 6th West St Lowell.

With many Kenyans with talent now emerging and ready to start new designs, the industry of clothing in Kenya is just starting and with great designs and Kenyans abroad willing to buy these designs the clothing industry in Kenya could develop and gradually replace the second hand clothing industry that is today the clothing wear supply system of Kenya.
