Anne Wawira Founder and Executive Director of Food 4 Education presented the feeding program that she has established to feed needy students with a school lunch in Kenya after returning from Australia. “Food 4 Education is currently feeding 300 students with meals every day,” said Wawira. She looks to increase the number of students in the program so every child has a meal during the school day. With a donation of $90 one will feed a child for one year. $30 feeds a child for a term and $10 feeds a child with 20 meals in a month.

At the Lowell, MA event, Wawira told the Kenyans gathered that she was raised in Kenya and that in 2010 she went to Australia, where she studied her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Food Sciences saying, “I founded Food 4 Education in 2012 while doing her degree.” She said the goal of the program is to see each child get a nutritious lunch everyday saying that this improves the health and learning ability of the child.

Kenyans in Lowell who had come for a get together that included a feast of all types of food and Nyama Choma welcomed the work Wawira is doing to empower children through food. Many present in the event took home the brochures as they look forward to become partners in this program so as to improve Kenya children education as the school children get nutritious food, essential amenities and mentorship from the food 4 education program.

Diaspora Kenyans are invited to be part of this program. With a commitment of $30 every term (3 months) one will be able to feed a child with 60 meals during the school days. Wawira has created a program to ensure children have food for education. Join her
