The concepts of Thanksgiving and Gratitude are synonymous. They are spontaneous ways of expressing a benefit we have received from an individual, a group or a wider society. It is a very natural sentiment which any normal person exhibits when a given a gift in the form of a commodity or as a supportive action in the context of an ideal that is being pursued.

Very inspiring story. And kudos to Hon.George Mwicigi. Thank you for what you have done for the Miru family. I am very pleased to see that there are people out there who are not stuck in the culture of nostalgia or presentisism, but are motivated in seen that the well being of the future generation is accounted for. It is my prayer and hope we can all adapt to this example of giving, selflessness and determination[As attested by Prof.Raphael Njoroge]. I am proud of you and I salute you Hon.George Mwicigi.

I, Anthony Gachunga, a family friend for many years, very much appreciate Julia Kimotho's reference to the culture of presentism, which is uncritical adherence to present-day attitudes. Julia, you correctly note that Hon. George Mwicigi transcended the culture of presentism and inspired Prof. Raphael J. Njoroge and the Miru family to think of the future beyond the conservative thinking prevalent in Makwa, and in the process motivated the Miru family to seek green pastures in Canada and the United States.

I also want to comment on Charles Mwicigi's appreciation of the honor that was given to his father by the Miru family during the Thanksgiving celebration the Kenyan style in Honor of Hon. George Mwicigi. Charles, your father deserves all the honor and glory that can be bestowed to him by human beings on this earth. He is a great man, whose deeds will never be erased from the annals of Kenyan history, and the world.

Mwicigi was very instrumental in my coming to the USA, gave his own funds, time and energy to see my dream and the wish of his uncle, Nahason Miru Mwicigi(our father) come to pass. Those of us that have been priveleged to interact with him will concur he is a great leader, loving man and development-minded both of the individual and of the community as a whole.
