Read these two statements and you will see what is wrong in Kenya. Statement 1 “Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has bought 17,000 acres of land in Nanyuki from former President Moi for Sh400 million to establish a national park as it seeks to grow high-end tourists.” Statement 2, “A strike by 7,000 professors of the 22 public universities has occurred as students were scheduled to take end-of-semester examinations over a salary dispute!” From these two statements it appears the government priority is making former President Moi richer would rather than provide education opportunity to varsity students.

The universities just like Kenya wildlife service are both government agencies. Whereas increase in tourism is important one does not need to be smart to understand tourism decreases when strikes occur and especially strikes associated with students.

As the land bill starts to be debated in reference to Article 68 C (1), Parliament shall (c) enact legislation— (i) to prescribe minimum and maximum land holding acreages in respect of private land, the few Kenyans who have had power in the last 50 years and mainly before 2000 and currently own millions of acres of land will start the sale of the land they paid zero for to make billions of shillings.

Unfortunately the biggest loser this time around might be the Prime Minister, Raila Odinga who maybe held accountable for this by the voters 2012.
