November 2014 will go in Kenya history books as the month Kenya became a country of "Rule of laws." The decision by the 67 Senators, 100% of the Senate to ensure that the Kenya constitution law are followed is the most powerful statement to come from an elected body representing the entire electorate.

Kenya Constitution reads in article 1. (1) “All sovereign power belongs to the people of Kenya and shall be exercised only in accordance with this Constitution.” The constitution further reads 3. (1) “Every person has an obligation to respect, uphold and defend this Constitution.” Going forward those who swore to uphold, defend and protect the Kenya constitution should do so.

Reporters such as Jeremiah Kiplang’at should also avoid writing statements like, “Although the laws do not touch on counties and originated from the National Assembly, the two Houses are expected to agree before any Bill is tabled in either.” This writer aided by editors of Nation newspaper does not state how he reaches the conclusion on the laws in the bills with regard to Kenya Constitution 110 (1) that reads, “In this Constitution, “a Bill concerning county government” means–– (a) a Bill containing provisions affecting the functions and powers of the county governments set out in the Fourth Schedule.”

When the lead newspaper editors do not understand the Kenya constitution they will many a time publish statements that make Kenya constitution disrespected and violated.
