Diaspora University Town developers have welcomed the Kshs 300 billion Mombasa-Highway. They are happy the highway passes next Diaspora University Town site in the Taita Taveta County. The highway will connect Diaspora University Town to Nairobi and Mombasa. Attorney Njoroge Kamau, the Diaspora University Town legal system developer on reading the story, says, “It is time the Diaspora also developed a project.”

The Mombasa-Nairobi highway development will trigger the growth of jobs and expansion of Kenya Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In 1956, the 34th president of the U.S, Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, would sign the Act that started the construction of 41,000 miles (66,000 km) Interstate Highway construction. The U.S Gross Domestic Product (GDP) would grow from about $400 billion to reach $6.5 trillion in the next 35 years as the miles of highway network were built.

The U.S highway development also enabled food production to increase as the highway offered a reliable transportation system in the U.S. The Mombasa-Nairobi highway shall also enable food production to increase.

Highways also enable development of towns. The attorney says, “The plan for Diaspora University Town is now better with the Mombasa highway.” The developers further envision about 10 large settlements development with over 500,000 persons emerging along the 450 km highway in the next 20 years. “These settlements will make the highway economically viable,” adds Attorney Kamau who sees the Diaspora University role in the developments along the highway in the years to come as Kenya GDP expands.

To Diaspora who may not understand what the Diaspora developers say, “Just like the U.S Company will work of a Kshs 300 billion project to produce a highway road, the Diaspora will work on a project to produce a Town settlement with a University, Medical Hospital, Town property and Industries.”
