In barely 90 days, Hon Rachel Dawai as a Member of County Assembly would be introduced to the Kenya University Project - Institution Town Development Plan, have it debated by the County Assembly Education Committee and passed and thereafter on May 2015 approved by the full County Assembly. She has since then become a Trustee of Diaspora University as she contributes to the progress of the development of the plan.

Currently she is working for the Taita Taveta County Government in the Governor’s office where she was updated on the progress of the project and the next steps by Dan Kamau. Madam Dawai who is an educationist having opened a basic education school was excited on the ongoing progress and said, “This project will open up Taita Taveta.”

Dan thanked Hon. Dawai for advancing the Institution Town Development Plan saying, "the approval of the plan enabled the progress of the project." Dan added that the plan will attract the growing financial capital that is expected to reach about Kshs 5 trillion total loan advances from all Kenya Banks in the next 5 years. And that Diaspora will love toruing Taita Taveta not just to see the animals but also to climb the hills and enjoy the beautiful sceneries.
