Taita Taveta County First Lady Visits Diaspora University Town Project Office

Taita Taveta County First lady, Stella Samboja, paid a visit to Diaspora University Town project office that is located opposite one of her projects. The First Lady was welcomed to the offices by Naomi Masawi, Col. (Rtd) Anthony Nyangala, Major (Rtd.) Henry Mwalugha and Civil Engineer, Joseph Mwandairo who were at the offices working.

The Diaspora University Town Project team introduced the project and themselves. Col. (Rtd) Nyangala introduced himself as the Chairman of the Security, Safety and Emergency (SSE) Committee, Major (Rtd) Mwalugha as a member of SSE committee. Naomi as person in charge of Office and Joseph Mwandairo as part of the Design-Build. Benjamin Mwandaa who is part of the SSE committee had just left the office.

Mwandairo informed the First lady that the project was establishing a data base of persons who want jobs. “Every day we have persons registering for jobs,” said Mwandairo. He added that work had started at the site.” The team thanked the First lady and gave her a Jamhuri Magazine. They also requested her to pass their greetings to H.E Governor Granton Samboja.   

The First lady on her part was excited to see persons working on a project to create jobs. She talked about the project she has set up in the same building for training persons, especially young girls, to become tailor and clothing makers. She said she is looking for partners. 

Diaspora University Town development team discussing this after the visit noted that the project can partner with the first lady initiative through the different departments of the Town, University, Medical Hospital and Design-Build that the trained persons can make clothes for. Diaspora Kenyans have started expressing interest in financing the purchase of cloth making machines through a Small Medium Enterprise (SME) set-up at Diaspora University Town site. The machines would be availed to those who are trained to start their careers

The First lady initiative of advancement of healthcare in Taita Taveta has also been welcome by the Diaspora University Medical Hospital development team. The Diaspora Doctors and Nurses will consider how they can work with in the First Lady initiative to advance the constitution right of healthcare to residents of Taita Taveta and to Kenyans.
