Peter Kenneth Full Message
It has been a great week! I had a successful trip to Japan but it feels great to back home.
I had the opportunity to meet with Kenyans who study and live in Tokyo, Kyoto and Fukuoka, in each city. I was encouraged to hear the hopes and dreams they have for our country. Though they are far, their minds and thoughts are always here and the message is that they want to see a brighter Kenya.
Japan’s economic growth has been driven by trade and technology within an environment of sound policy. By providing a conducive environment with political and financial security, the government made investments in new industries and technologies possible.
The government led the way by investing heavily in infrastructure, implementing a viable food security plan and strengthening its security apparatus.
Though Japan has been hit by numerous disasters; they have risen from them on every occasion with confidence and renewed hope of an even better country. It was hard to foresee the rise after the twin disasters of the earthquake and the explosions of the Fukushima power plants yet they did.
Our disaster is the time bomb of hunger and youth unemployment that is bound to explode.
To survive these challenges and rise with renewed vigor, Kenyans must elect visionary, energetic and passionate people who can deliver the promise of a new Kenya.
We have to make some tough choices. We have the opportunity now to provide a break from the past and to build a brighter Kenya for all of us.
We have to create a Kenya that we shall be proud to leave to our children and to future generations.
I have made my choice and I’m on the journey to building a better and brighter Kenya. I urge you to join me in this journey.
