“Why do you want to run a marathon? This is the question I asked each of the runner and on Friday in Chicago at a Dinner which I helped put together and also doubled up as the Master of Ceremony,” says Awour who is running for Siaya senate seat. Speaking at the event attended by over 200 Kenyans and well wishers Awour advised, “I firmly believe that, whatever the reason, use it to drive you through training and the finish line whether it be a marathon or half marathon.”

Awour said this was a great moment for her as she prepares to run a different race; a race to represent the people of Siaya in the Senate legislative body of parliament. “Sharing with the runners I hear them, I can feel them and with them I feel what they told me they felt moments of doubt,” she says of the moment. “Yes! You may have doubt in yourself like any human being,” she adds. “The most encouraging thing I do for myself is to keep telling myself that I am doing this Race for the Senate Seat in Siaya for the cause I believe with men and women who want change and believe that now is the moment I can and will make it.”

Awour who drew strength from the runners says, “I can do it because my so that my people in Siaya can know what it means to have Great Schools, 21st century World Class healthcare services, economic empowerment for all so that Siaya can  became healthy again. The Issues in Siaya that are close to my heart have showed me strength and I know I have to keep my promise that Siaya is and should be the best. “
